Cmj Traffic Bulletin: Saturday 28 August Until Thursday 2 September

Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for ongoing work as part of the Central Motorway Junction upgrade project.

CMJ Stage 1 Northbound lane closures: Sunday 29 August – CLOSED – during the day and overnight from 7am until 6am on Monday: Left-hand northbound lane between Gillies Ave on-ramp and Symonds St off-ramp.

Sunday 29 August – CLOSED –from 11pm until 4am on Monday: All northbound lanes over the Newmarket Viaduct. Detour: for northbound traffic - off at Market Rd off-ramp and on at Gillies Ave on-ramp.

Ramp and link closures: Saturday 28 August – CLOSED – during the day from 7am until 8pm Port off-ramp (SH1 northbound) Wellesley St off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

Sunday 29 August – CLOSED – during the day and overnight from 7am through to 6am on Monday: Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound) Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

Sunday 29 August – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm until 6am on Monday: Symonds St on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Khyber Pass on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Port off-ramp (SH16 portbound) Wellesley St off-ramp (SH16 citybound) Northwestern to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)

Local road closures: Sunday 29 August – CLOSED – during the day from 6am until 9am: Boston Rd between Severn St and Khyber Pass Rd.

Sunday 29 August through to Thursday 2 September - CLOSED - overnight from 8pm until 6am the following morning: • Either Khyber Pass Rd near the motorway ramps or Boston Rd between Severn St and Khyber Pass Rd.

Ongoing motorway lane closures: There will be ongoing north and southbound lane closures at night on the Southern Motorway between the Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and the Symonds Street overbridge from Sunday through to Thursday nights until 2005.

Please choose alternative routes during these closures. Motorists are advised that there could be delays.

The CMJ Project

Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Wellington St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St.
