Have your say on the future of Lake Pupuke
North Shore City Council is giving you the chance to have your say on the draft management plan for the parks and reserves surrounding Lake Pupuke.
Open for submissions until November 5, the plan aims to enhance and protect the lake's unique environment for the future. Community services and parks committee chairperson, Margaret Miles, says people come from all over the city to enjoy Lake Pupuke.
"It has become such a busy place that we need to make sure there is a balance between enhancing and protecting the lakeside reserves," she says.
"It is a wonderful asset for North Shore City and people are increasingly using it, including our athletes. Olympic kayaking silver medallist Ben Fouhy has trained there."
Some issues addressed in the draft management plan include the extension of walkways around the lake, the need to formalise existing commercial use, managing demand for improved facilities, and preserving wildlife habitats and the natural features of the lake.
Copies of the draft Lake Pupuke Management Plan are
now available for viewing at all area offices and libraries.
