Elections results online

Auckland City’s electoral officer, Dale Ofsoske will post the results of the Auckland city local authority elections on the Auckland City web site www.aucklandcity.govt.nz on Saturday 9 October after votes close at noon.

Mr Ofsoske expects progress results to be available at about 1pm. This includes most votes counted except those received on Saturday morning and via the library ballot boxes.

The preliminary results which include all votes except special votes will be updated later in the day after checking processes are completed.

The results of Auckland City’s elections will be finalised on Wednesday 13 October after the counting of special votes following which Mr Ofsoske will make his official declaration.

It is expected that the new council and community boards will take office at midnight on Wednesday 13 October.

Given the layers of meta-irony involved, the saga of the Sony cyber attack seemed at the outset more like a snarky European art film than a popcorn entry at the multiplex.

Yet now with (a) President Barack Obama weighing in on the side of artistic freedom and calling for the US to make a ‘proportionate response’quickly followed by (b) North Korea’s entire Internet service going down, and with both these events being followed by (c) Sony deciding to backtrack and release The Interview film that had made it a target for the dastardly North Koreans in the first place, then ay caramba…the whole world will now be watching how this affair pans out.
