Greater Wellington committees agreed
Greater Wellington Regional Council today agreed the membership of its council committees, following the local government elections on 9 October.
Cr Terry McDavitt remains the chair of the Regional Land Transport Committee, with Fran Wilde as deputy. Cr Glen Evans becomes the chair of the Passenger Transport Committee, with Sandra Greig as deputy. Cr Chris Laidlaw retains the helm of the Landcare Committee (deputy Margaret Shields); Rick Long is chair of the Rural Services and Wairarapa Committee (deputy Rex Kirton); Rex Kirton chairs the Utility Services Committee (deputy Peter Glensor) while Chris Turver becomes chair of the Environment Committee (deputy Sally Baber).
The newly-renamed Planning and Monitoring Sub-committee, to be chaired by Judith Aitken, will have an audit role as well as hearing and making recommendations on submissions on the ten-year and annual plans. All councillors are members of the Policy, Finance and Strategy Committee.
Cr Ian Buchanan had previously been elected chairperson of Greater Wellington and Terry McDavitt as the deputy chairperson.
