Press Release: Auckland City Council

24 November 2004
Change to Karangahape Road bus lane
From today, citybound motorists driving along Karangahape
Road will notice a change to the bus lane east and west of
Day Street.
The section east of Day Street has been
extended by 50 metres making it more accessible for buses.
The section west of Day Street has been removed, allowing
for more parking.
The added section will stop parked cars
causing delays for buses accessing the lane.
The change
will improve bus travel times along Karangahape Road in peak
traffic and benefit cyclists, who are able to bypass traffic
queues by using the lane.
Auckland City’s previous
transport committee approved the change to the bus lane in
June
2004.

Gordon Campbell: On the Sony cyber attack
Given the layers of meta-irony involved, the saga of the Sony cyber attack seemed at the outset more like a snarky European art film than a popcorn entry at the multiplex.
Yet now with (a) President Barack Obama weighing in on the side of artistic freedom and calling for the US to make a ‘proportionate response’quickly followed by (b) North Korea’s entire Internet service going down, and with both these events being followed by (c) Sony deciding to backtrack and release The Interview film that had made it a target for the dastardly North Koreans in the first place, then ay caramba…the whole world will now be watching how this affair pans out.
