Feel great this winter - sign up for a Pilates class in your community
The City Council is taking bookings for its term three introductory mat pilates courses.
Pilates (pronounced Pi-lah-tees) leaves you feeling refreshed and alert, with a sense of physical and mental well being. The Pilates method involves progressive exercises - deep stretching and controlled resistance movements using the abdominal muscles as the powerhouse of the body.
Regardless of age or fitness level, everyone can enjoy and benefit from this form of exercise. Benefits include an improved posture and strengthened lower back, buttocks and stomach muscles. Pilates engages your body and mind, improves flexibility and strengthens the whole body.
A city of healthy and active people is one of the City Council $B!G (Js key Community Outcomes. In support of SPARC (Sport and Recreation New Zealand) guidelines, which recommend that adults do at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day, the Council brings pilates to you in your community.
