Manukau City Council warns residents over crank calls
Manukau City Council has received reports that residents are being contacted by people posing as Council workers conducting a telephone survey. The Council is alerting residents that no such survey is being carried out.
A number of residents have reported that the caller or callers claim to be undertaking a customer service survey for the Council and ask to speak to the male in the home having their birthday next. In one instance, after a resident explained that there was no male in the house, the caller hung up.
Joyce Rudd, acting Manager of Citizen and Customer Services at the Council says:
"We do not know why these calls are being made but are concerned for residents and the worry this might cause."
"Although we do employ agencies to carry out surveys on our behalf from time to time, we want to make it clear that Council is not conducting any telephone surveys at the moment."
