$9.5 Million Reasons To Celebrate

$9.5 Million Reasons To Celebrate

A lucky player who purchased their ticket at Ponderosa Superette in Mangere, Auckland has won Lotto Powerball, worth $9.5million, a perfect icing on the cake to Lotto's 1000th Draw celebrations two weeks ago, says NZ Lotteries Chief Executive Todd McLeay.

The owner of the ticket will collect a total prize of $9,559,404 million, with $9,198,114 from winning Powerball First Division and $361,290 from also winning Lotto First Division.

"We are really thrilled for our latest multi-millionaire, what a fantastic way to kick off our next 1000 draws," says Mr McLeay.

Powerball was last struck in June, with a $3.6 million prize won on a ticket sold at Manukau City Lotto in Auckland, and follows an $18 million win on 20 May by a ticket sold at Kaeo Four Square in Northland.

Two other Lotto tickets, purchased Willy Wonka, also in Auckland, and Silverstream Pharmacy in Upper Hutt have each won Lotto First Division, winning $361,290 each.

Lotto Strike was also struck tonight by a ticket purchased at Kuripuni Lotto & Postshop in Masterton, winning $867,467.

Mr McLeay's advice for tonight's winners is to write their name and address on the ticket, confirming their ownership.

"They should then contact NZ Lotteries on (04) 802 7000, and we can provide advice about the next steps to take," he said.

Tonight's other big winner was Timaru's Jill Strachan who spun and won a $50,000 shopping spree live on Lotto's Winning Wheel. Jill spun the wheel on behalf of the 'Northtown Ten' syndicate a group of ten friends and workmates from Timaru.

All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto's Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy. Players can check their ticket at any lottery outlet.

Tonight's Winning Wheel ticket was sold by Nawton Stationers & Lotto in Hamilton. The serial number is 355-57594664-20XX.
