Centre-Right Candidate joins Christchurch Mayoralty Race
The centre-right has joined the already heated race for the Christchurch mayoralty next year. Seb Parr, a student in his early twenties, has officially launched his campaign for the gold chain.
“I’m not one of those young, vanity candidates” Parr says. “I’m here with real policies, a real vision and I’m here to win”.
According to Parr he has announced his candidacy a year out from the elections in order to give him a chance to build a profile. “I honestly believe that Christchurch’s halcyon days, our golden summer, lies ahead. But if I can’t build a profile, I can’t get that message out”.
Alongside traditional centre-right policies of cutting bureaucracy and promoting business interests, Parr also intends to “help promote diversity, cultural respect and a place for those on the margins of society”.
The race was blown wide open with the announcement last week that incumbent mayor Garry Moore would not be seeking re-election.
