Incident Type: Update on Rimutaka Hill

Rimutaka Hill is still closed to all light vehicles including motorbikes, high sided vehicles and light trucks. Heavy trucks are being allowed obviously because of their weight.

Highway patrols report extreme wind gusts at the summit of the Rimutaka Hill and the Met Office report more severe wind gusts later tonight.

Motorists who do not need to travel on the road are asked to delay their journey.
