Bus, train or ferry to Farmer’s Santa Parade

Media release
Wednesday 22 November

Bus, train or ferry to Farmer’s Santa Parade this Sunday

Aucklanders heading to this year’s Farmers Santa Parade can choose from a variety of public transport options and make it easy on themselves as the region’s buses, trains and ferries head into Auckland’s CBD from Helensville, Pukekohe, Bayswater, Waiheke, Waiwera and Orewa for the celebrations.

Auckland Regional Transport Authority’s (ARTA) Acting General Manager Passenger Services, Mark Lambert says, “Those taking public transport should plan their travel carefully, aim to arrive early and leave plenty of time for the journey. Especially as there are many bus stop changes around Auckland’s CBD due to road closures for the Parade - to find out more they can call MAXX on 09 366 6400.

A special return train service is being run from both Helensville out West, and Pukekohe down South to help Aucklanders get into town to watch the Farmers Santa Parade. Any passengers planning to take these trains home should ensure they arrive at Britomart with plenty of time to catch the return service as the station is expected to be busy. There are additional ferry services running from Bayswater, Birkenhead and Northcote Point.

Families heading to the Parade may be able to take advantage of various Day Passes available from different operators, which offer excellent value for money and are valid for travel on the system over the day. The passes can be bought on most bus and train services; the MAXX website tickets and fares section has information on what’s available.

The Parade starts at 2.00pm on Sunday 26 November with an After Party in Aotea Square show casing various performances by The Greater Auckland Chorus, Weber Bros Circus and the All Star Cheerleaders and an afternoon-closing performance from West Auckland band Spacifix.

For information on what bus, train or ferry Aucklanders can catch to get to the Farmers Santa Parade visit www.maxx.co.nz and click on the Santa Parade icon or call the MAXX contact centre on (09) 366 6400 (passengers outside the Auckland free calling area can call MAXX on 0800 10 30 80) or go to Britomart’s MAXX information kiosk.
