Celebrate a Kiwi Christmas at the Zoo

Grab your jandals and put on your Christmas hat – its ASB Christmas at the Zoo. Join Matt and Dayna from Studio 2, and special guest Santa, for a magical kiwi Christmas party on Sunday, 17 December.

As you enter the zoo, you will be transported into a Kiwi Christmas wonderland with native pohutakawas guiding your way to the Band Rotunda where the Christmas show will celebrate everything that is great about a Kiwi Christmas – family and friends, fun in the sun, outdoor barbecues and long summer nights.

Christmas show hosts Matt and Dayna from Studio 2 (TV2) and live band The Zoolus’s will have you singing along to all your favourite Christmas carols and Kiwi tunes. There will also be giveaways, games, prizes to be won, and a special visit from a very Kiwi Santa.

As you explore the zoo, enjoy all the great entertainment on offer, including face painting, a bouncy castle, shark slide, and roaming Kiwi Christmas characters. Visit Santa’s Grotto to get your photo taken, and receive a present. Wild Zone gift shop will also be open for any last minute Christmas gift purchases, and you can try out your tennis skills on the ASB Speedserve (tennis machine).

“We want the celebration of a Kiwi Christmas to be really special to everyone who comes along, and hope this event will help people connect with what a Kiwi Christmas means to them,” says Auckland Zoo events and sponsorship co- ordinator, Jackie Sanders.

“We also want people to be inspired to protect the things about New Zealand we love to enjoy at this time of year, like our beautiful beaches, and stunning pohutakawa.

“Simple things like picking up rubbish at the beach, planting native trees, making sure fires are fully put out, and keeping dogs on leads, are positive things we can all do to help protect our plants and animals,” says Ms Sanders.

ASB Christmas at the Zoo is brought to you by ASB with support from TV2, Classic Hits, Placemakers and Hasbro.
