"Boobs on Bikes" parade not approved by Council

The Christchurch City Council has not approved or received an application to hold the proposed "Boobs on Bikes" parade on Friday, 2 March, from Erotica event organisers.

Council usually approves processions if traffic and crowd management considerations have been taken care of, says Transport and City Streets manager Michael Aitken.

Council does not stop parades unless there is a traffic safety issue and does not usually involve the police in processions except to help manage traffic and crowds.

"Until Council has received an application, we can't really say much more, except that this application would be considered on these criteria."

To prescribe the standard of dress of participants is not a matter that the Council can control Mr Aitken says.
