Music Event Falls Victim To Cold Snap

Music Event Falls Victim To Cold Snap

The Otago finals of the nationwide youth music event, Smokefreerockquest
have fallen victim to the Dunedin cold snap.

Fourteen bands were scheduled to play off at the regional finals in the
Student Union Hall tonight, but with three bands from out of town and others
unable to travel into the city from surrounding suburbs the event has been
called off.

Rockquest Promotions director Glenn Common says it is the first time in 19
years of the event that this has happened.

³We have never called off a gig before - for any reason,² he said. ³We will
try to reschedule it and hope by the end of next week to make an
announcement of a new date.²

Meantime tickets can be refunded through Real Groovy or retained to be used
at the rescheduled event.

These are the fourteen bands that were to compete tonight for the regional
title, prizes and the chance to be selected as national finalists:

Grope The Pope - Logan Park High School
Strange Daze - Otago Boys¹ High School
Thelonius - Kings High School
