Media Release
Wednesday, 1 August

Industry professionals from around NZ flocked to the 2nd Auckland BarShow & Bar Awards

Auckland BarShow, New Zealand’s only full-scale standalone tradeshow dedicated to the business of bars hit Alinghi Base on July 17 & 18, attracting 2,570 visitors from across the country who sampled products and services that are essential to the running of a successful bar business. The event, now in its second year, was presented by Spanton Media Group, the team behind New Zealand Bartender magazine and Sydney BarShow.

Cutting edge talks, tastings and mixology seminars were staged over the two days of the show. Presentations covered everything from the latest cocktail trends presented by UK bartending extraordinaire Angus Winchester to tips on the best music policy for your venue presented by leading operators from Auckland and Wellington.

BarShow has gained a reputation for reaching a broad cross-section of industry professionals including the hard-to-reach style bar operators and bartenders. Managing Director of BarShow, David Spanton was pleased with the turnout for the event in just its second year, commenting: “The Auckland BarShow attracted bar owners, managers and bartenders from around New Zealand; all industry professionals who are keen to raise the standards of the New Zealand bar industry. We look forward to continued growth in the coming years.”

Taking out the prize for ‘Best Stand – Auckland BarShow 07’ was Pernod Ricard who decked out their stand as a classic cocktail bar and had a team of bartending experts including Australasian Brand Ambassador Ben Davidson, educating the attendees with constructive mixology sessions throughout the two days.

Auckland BarShow wrapped up with a gala dinner at the Hilton Hotel to present the inaugural 2nd Annual New Zealand Bartender Magazine Bar Awards. More than 300 industry leaders turned out to see 15 awards presented over the evening including the Bartender Magazine Bartender of the Year sponsored by Bombay Sapphire which was awarded to Nick Ravenhall from the Corner Bar in Auckland.
