Drink Driver caught on a ride-on lawnmower

A 52-year-old Dargaville man has had his ride-on lawnmower impounded after he was caught drink driving on the vehicle.

A police officer noticed the man driving the lawnmower through Dargaville at 9.30pm last night (Monday January 14).

The officer went to ask the man to get off the road and discovered the man was a disqualified driver and that he had been drinking.

The man blew 926mgms/litre of breath, more than twice the legal limit of 400mgms/litre of breath.

His lawnmower was impounded for 28 days and he will be appearing in the Dargaville District Court this week facing charges of careless driving, driving while disqualified and driving with excess breath alcohol.
