Air Incident: Christchurch International Airport
At approx 0740hrs this morning a May Day call was received via the NZ Rescue co-ordination Centre from an Air National Flight operated by Eagle Air traveling from Blenheim to Christchurch.
The pilots on board reported that a female passenger had attacked them in the cockpit inflicting some minor injuries, before she was removed from the cockpit.
The passenger also made threats of a bomb being on board. The plane with 9 persons on board continued on to Christchurch International Airport without further incident.
The plane landed safely at approximately 8:06am. All passengers safely disembarked. The female has been taken into custody.
The plane is currently being searched.
Police enquiries are now under way.
Supt Dave Cliff the Canterbury District Commander will be holding a press Conference at 10:30 hrs this morning at the Christchurch Central Police Station.
