Trains to take music lovers to Starlight Symphony

MAXX buses and trains to take music lovers to Starlight Symphony

On Saturday 23 February, symphony lovers can leave the car at home and take a MAXX bus or train to the SKYCITY Starlight Symphony in the Auckland Domain.

A shuttle bus service will run every 15 minutes from Britomart (Stop D6) to the Auckland Domain (Kiosk Road) between 4.30pm and 8.00pm. The shuttle bus service will leave the Auckland Domain for Britomart after the concert finishes. Tickets cost $2.00 per person (one way) and can be purchased on the bus. No concessionary fares/passes will be accepted on this special service.

Regular Link bus services will travel via Newmarket and Auckland Hospital every 10 to 15 minutes. A one-way ticket costs $1.60 and can be purchased on the bus.

Special buses will be operating from various parts of Auckland to the Domain.

Additional train services to the Starlight Symphony will be operating. Passengers planning to use the train can travel to either Boston Road or Newmarket West (Kingdon Street) on the Western Line), or Newmarket South on the Southern Line. Train passengers can also take a train to Britomart and then catch a bus to the Domain.

Western Line rail passengers are advised that the usual Saturday bus replacements between Henderson and Waitakere will be in place.

Normal fares apply for all train services.

Passengers should allow plenty of time to get to the Domain in time for the show.

About special bus services to the Auckland Domain:

East Auckland

Bucklands Beach
Buses will depart from Bucklands Beach Primary School, Bucklands Beach at 4.45pm, travelling via Clovelly Rd, Musick Pt Rd, Morrow Ave, Hattaway Ave, Devon Rd, The Parade, Whitcombe Rd, Bucklands Beach Road, Eastern Beach Rd, The Esplanade, Macleans Rd, Priestley Drive, Bucklands Beach Road, Casaurina Rd, Pigeon Mt Rd, Half Moon Bay Ferry Terminal, Prince Regent Dr, Butley Rd, Glenmore R, then via all stops to Pakuranga Plaza, and then directly to the Auckland Domain.

Howick
Buses will depart from Botany Road (outside Paradise ice skating rink) at 4.45pm, travelling via Millhouse Drive, Whitford Rd, Sandspit Rd, Paparoa Rd, View Rd, Pah Rd, Cockle Bay (5.00pm) Howick Beach, Selwyn Rd, Howick, then via all stops to Pakuranga Plaza, and then directly to the Auckland Domain.

Buses will depart from the Auckland Domain (Wintergarden area) after the concert to the above locations.

Adult return tickets for these services cost $10.00, child return tickets $8.00. Cash fares only. For their own convenience, passengers are advised to pre-purchase tickets from Readaway Bookshop, 83 Picton Street, Howick; or the Howick and Eastern Buses Depot, 380 Ti Rakau Drive, East Tamaki. Tickets can also be purchased on the bus.


Panmure (via Glen Innes, St Heliers and Tamaki Drive)
005 buses will depart from Queens Rd, Panmure at 5.00pm, travelling via Tripoli Rd, Erima Avenue, Pt England Rd, Apirana Ave, then via Glen Innes Centre (5.10pm), Taniwha St, West Tamaki Rd, Crossfield Rd, Mount Taylor, Ashby Ave, St Heliers Bay Rd, then via St Heliers (5.25pm), Tamaki Drive, The Strand, Stanley St, Grafton Rd and Park Rd. The Auckland Pass is the only pass that will be accepted on this special service.

Buses will depart from the Auckland Domain (Wintergarden area) after the concert to the above locations. Tickets can be purchased on the bus. Standard fares will apply.


North Auckland

Northern Express
Buses will depart from Albany Park and Ride, Platform 2B (starting at 4.30pm, then every 30 minutes to 6.30pm), travelling via all Northern Busway stations to the Auckland Domain.

Glenfield/Highbury
The 053 bus will depart from Glenfield shops at 5.30pm, travelling via Glenfield Rd, Birkenhead Ave, Onewa Rd and State Highway 1 to Fanshawe St exit, Fanshawe St, Sturdee, Customs St, Beach Rd, Stanley St, Grafton Rd and Park Rd to the Auckland Domain. The Auckland Pass is the only pass that will be accepted on this special service.

Glenfield Mall (via Marlborough and Northcote)
Bus will depart from Glenfield Mall at 5.40pm, travelling via Chivalry Rd, Archers Rd, Chartwell Ave, Lingfield St, Blenheim St, Archers Rd, Beatrice Ave, Coronation Rd, Sunnybrae Rd, Northcote Road, Lake Rd, Northcote shops, Exmouth Rd and Sylvan Ave to the Auckland Domain.

Hillcrest Ave (via Northcote)
Buses will depart from Hillcrest Ave at 5.30pm, travelling via Sylvia Rd, Eban Ave, Ocean View Rd, Raleigh Rd, Northcote shops, Exmouth Rd and Sylvan Ave to the Auckland Domain.

Takapuna
052 buses will depart from Takapuna at 5.30pm, travelling via Lake Road, Huron St, Burns Ave, Esmonde Rd and State Highway 1 to Fanshawe St exit, Fanshawe St, Sturdee, Customs St, Beach Rd, Stanley St, Grafton Rd, Park Road to the Auckland Domain. The Auckland Pass is the only pass that will be accepted on this special service.

Torbay (via East Coast Bays and Milford)
050 buses will depart from Torbay at 5.00pm and 5.30pm, travelling via Beach Rd, Bute Rd, Clyde Rd, Browns Bay Rd, Beach Rd, Aberdeen Rd, East Coast Rd, Kitchener Rd, Hurstmere Rd, Anzac St, Lake Rd, Huron St, Burns Ave, Esmonde Rd and State Highway 1 to Fanshawe St exit, Fanshawe St, Sturdee, Customs St, Beach Rd, Stanley St, Grafton Rd and Park Rd to the Auckland Domain. The Auckland Pass is the only pass that will be accepted on this special service.

Torbay (via East Coast Road and Forrest Hill)
The 051 bus will depart from Torbay at 5.00pm, travelling via Beach Rd, County Rd, Awaruku Rd, Stredwick Dr, Marina Rd, Glamorgan Dr, Geoffrey Rd, Weatherly Rd, Deep Creek Rd, Firth Rd, Carlisle Rd, East Coast Rd, Forrest Hill Rd, Wairau Rd, Tahoroto Rd, Northcote Rd and State Highway 1 to Fanshawe St exit, Fanshawe St, Sturdee, Customs St, Beach Rd, Stanley St, Grafton Rd and Park Ro to the Auckland Domain. The 083 bus will depart from Gulf Harbour at 4.45pm, travelling via Gulf Harbour Dr, Shakespeare/Whangaparaoa Rd, Little Manly (5.00pm), Whangaparaoa Rd, Whangaparaoa Town Centre (5.05pm), Marallen Dr, Bay St, Red Beach Rd, State Highway 1 and Silverdale (5.25pm) to the Auckland Domain. The Auckland Pass is the only pass that will be accepted on this special service.

Waiwera/Hatfields Beach/Orewa/Silverdale/Albany
The 081 bus will depart from Waiwera at 4.50pm, travelling via State Highway 1, West Hoe Rd, Orewa (5.00pm), Centreway Rd, State Highway 1, Silverdale (5.15pm), Upper Harbour Highway, Unsworth Dr (5.30pm), Albany Highway, Wairau Rd and Tristram Ave to the Auckland Domain. The Auckland Pass is the only pass that will be accepted on this special service.

Buses will depart from the Auckland Domain (Wintergarden area) after the concert to the above locations. Tickets can be purchased on the bus. Standard fares will apply.

South Auckland

Wiri (via Papatoetoe, Mangere and Onehunga)
The 021 bus will depart Wiri Depot at 5.15pm, travelling via Norman Spencer Dr, Puhinui Rd, Wallace Rd, Papatoetoe Town Hall (5.20pm), St George St, Station Rd, Buckland Rd East, Raglan St, Haddon St, Henwood Rd, Robertson Rd, Ashley Ave, Buckland Rd, Bader Dr, Mangere Town Centre (5.35pm), Elmdon St, Hall Ave, Walmsley Rd, Miller Rd, Mountain Rd, Coronation Rd, Rimu Rd, Mangere Bridge, Onehunga Mall, Selwyn St, Arthur St, Onehunga Transport Centre (5.45pm), Onehunga Mall, Trafalgar St, Manukau Rd, Alpers Ave, Gillies Ave, Khyber Pass Rd and Park Rd to the Auckland Domain. 014 buses will depart from Henderson at 5.30pm, travelling via Railside Ave, Bruce McLaren Rd, Parrs Corner (5.35pm), Parrs Cross Rd, West Coast Rd, Rosier Rd, Glengarry Rd, Nadana Dr, Kashmir Rd, Withers Rd, Glendale Rd, West Coast Rd, Great North Rd and New Lynn Transport Centre (5.55pm) to the Auckland Domain.

Larnoch (via Henderson, New Lynn, Mt Albert and St Lukes)
013 buses will depart from the Swanson Depot at 5.00pm, travelling via Swanson Rd, Universal Dr, Rathgar Rd, Pomaria Rd, Lincoln Rd, Great North Rd, Henderson (5.10pm), New Lynn Transport Centre (5.25pm), Rosebank Rd, Blockhouse Bay Rd, New North Rd, St Lukes Rd, Sandringham Rd, New North Rd, Mt. Eden Rd, Boston Rd, Khyber Pass Rd and Park Rd to the Auckland Domain.

Titirangi (via Green Bay, Blockhouse Bay, Whit Swan Rd and Dominion Rd)
The 011 bus will depart from Titirangi shops at 5.00pm, travelling via Titirangi Rd, Godley Rd, Green Bay (5.06pm), Portage Rd, Kinross St, Connell St, Connaught St, Gilfillian St, Blockhouse Bay (5.11pm), Blockhouse Bay Rd, Donovan St, White Swan (5.16pm), White Swan Rd, Richardson Rd, May Rd, Denbigh Ave, Dominion Rd, Mt Roskill shops (5.22pm), View Rd, Esplanade Rd, Mt Eden Rd, Boston Rd, Khyber Pass Rd and Park Rd to the Auckland Domain.
