Two people swept out to sea rescued

Two people swept out to sea

At about 5.15pm on Friday 28th March two persons fishing off the South Brighton Spit in Christchurch were swept out to sea by the tide.

Police activated the Sumner Life Boat who lunched their rescue boats and were effecting a rescue within minutes of the activation.

Both persons were located in the sea and at least one could not swim at all. One person is report safe and well while the second person is being airlifted to Christchurch Hospital.

The Sumner Life Boat response saved without question the life of these two persons.
