Update On Wanganui Shooting

29 June 2008 A Wanganui woman shot in the city yesterday has died.

The 24-year-old was discovered by police and was taken to Wanagnui Hospital suffering from a gun shot wound in her head.

She died this afternoon in hospital.

Police have cordoned off two potential scenes and have called in the assistance of the army to protect these from the elements.

A team of about 20 police and ESR staff are carrying out scene examinations and enquiries.

Police want to speak with 29-year-old Wanganui man, Karl James Copley LANE in respect of this matter. LANE is described as a male Caucasian, 165cm tall medium build and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark-coloured sweat shirt, and a camouflage beanie. He is believed to be driving a silver 1990 Holden Commodore saloon.

The public are urged to contact police if they sight LANE or the vehicle but should not approach him.
