At approximately
2.15pm on 15th November, Police SAR confirmed they had
located the missing pig hunter in Thames. The male had not
been seen since he entered the bush on Thursday afternoon
for a short pig hunting trip.
The 39 year old male was
located safe and well near Andesite Creek in the Kopu-Hikuai
Valley. The man confirmed he had seen the plane searching
for him yesterday. He elected to make shelter, light a fire
and remain in that location. Police SAR confirm this was the
correct action to take and assisted them in locating the
male. Police, the hunter and his family would like to thank
volunteers for all their time and efforts during the
successful search operation.
