Fallen Line In East Tamaki

A Transpower 220kV conductor (line) fell in Te Irirangi Dr in East Tamaki at 10.40am this morning. There has been no loss of electricity supply or fire.

The Otahuhu to Whakamaru conductor has detached and fallen on approximately 15 properties. The cause is under investigation and contractors are on site with the objective of clearing the road.

“Our first priority is to ensure that members of the public are safe,” says Transpower’s General Manager of System Operations, Kieran Devine. “Our second priority is to restore the conductor.

Transpower expects to fully restore the conductor over the weekend.

Damage to properties is being assessed. Transpower will make full restoration of damage caused to properties or loss that has occurred as a result of this incident. Transpower representatives will be on site this afternoon talking with affected residents.

Police and emergency services are attending.
