Escape to the “True Colours” of autumn in Queenstown

Encouraging New Zealanders to take the holiday they deserve is behind Destination Queenstown’s “True Colours” autumn campaign.

The campaign aims to stimulate travel to Queenstown this autumn by targeting couples, families and ‘empty nesters’ based in  Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch/Canterbury and the lower South Island.

These visitors have been identified as likely to travel in autumn, and will be encouraged to take advantage of 140 value-added deals featured online at www.queenstown-nz.co.nz (valid for travel from April 13 through to June 15, 2009).

Destination Queenstown General Manager, Marketing Graham Budd said autumn was a beautiful time of year to visit Queenstown.

“We want to remind New Zealanders that Queenstown is an inspirational world-class destination right on their doorstep. We want all Kiwis to discover and explore Queenstown for themselves and take advantage of the True Colours deals to make their holiday even better value.”

“Our objective is to keep Queenstown top of mind for holiday travel, and to encourage short lead-in bookings for this coming autumn season.”

Mr Budd said the campaign highlighted Queenstown’s stunning alpine scenery and exceptional range of accommodation, activities and amenities in a relaxed lakeside environment.

“Queenstown is a year-round resort, and autumn’s stable weather and spectacular backdrop, particularly as the trees turn red and gold with the changing season, is the perfect setting in which to enjoy an activity, take a walk, or simply relaxing with a glass of award-winning pinot noir.”

Alongside an extensive print and online advertising campaign, a regionally targeted postcard outlining True Colours and the great deals on offer will be distributed to 235,000 homes across the country in March. This will be further supported by a radio campaign in the lower South Island.
