North Shore Welcomes release of Commission report

North Shore City Welcomes release of Royal Commission report

27 March 2009

North Shore City Council has today welcomed the release of the Royal Commission of Inquiry Report on Auckland Governance.

Deputy Mayor Julia Parfitt says the Council will now carefully consider what the report means for North Shore residents and for wider Auckland.

"This is a complex proposal which will require careful consideration," said Mrs Parfitt.

"The Council is also keen to learn what the Government intends to do regarding the recommendation.

"This eminent group of commissioners has addressed the current complexities of Auckland Governance and propose a radical and innovative solution.

"They have addressed all aspects of our city - financial, infrustructure, planning and social," she said.

Mrs Parfitt says North Shore City is pleased that the Minister of Local Government has given his personal assurance all councils will have continuing involvement in the process.
