Organic Coffee Giveaway on Earth Day

MEDIA ADVISORY:

Organic Coffee Giveaway on Earth Day

Organics Aotearoa New Zealand (OANZ) will be giving away free organic coffee in central Wellington from 7.30am to 9.30am on Earth Day, Wednesday 22 April.

Free long black and flat white coffees will be given away in Wellington’s Civic Square, along with information about the environmental benefits of organic farming.

Conventionally grown coffee is the third most sprayed crop in the world, with potentially devastating impacts on the health of the farmers and their environment.

Milk in the flat whites will come from organic dairy farms, which have a greatly reduced impact on waterways as a result of avoiding the use of artificial fertilizers.

The OANZ-coordinated event is supported by the certified organic coffee company Inca-Fé, and Anchor, who are providing certified organic milk.

Earth Day is coordinated by the Earth Day Network (http://www.earthday.net), and in 2009 will be celebrated in 174 countries worldwide.
