Kaitaia Police are continuing their investigations into the death of a Kaitaia woman.

Police launched a homicide inquiry after the body of 70-year-old Barbara Catherine Julian was discovered at her home in Matthews Avenue early yesterday evening.

A 17-year-old male has been arrested on an unrelated matter and is being considered a person of interest in this inquiry.

Police will be talking to residents in the Matthews Avenue area over the next few days and are asking anyone with information about any suspicious activity around the victim's address or wider area to contact Kaitaia Police on 09 408 6530.
