Late Lounge 3 Dec: pre-Christmas music, art, craft

Late Lounge at TheNewDowse 3 Dec - pre-Christmas music + art + craft mashup

For immediate release

Indulge your senses with a twin activity treat at TheNewDowse from 6pm on Thursday 3 December. The Late Lounge live music series continues with the final event for 2009 featuring psychedelic rockers Spartacus R, recently returned from a European tour. Meanwhile, Craft 2.0 runs its first ‘Twilight Delight’ evening session alongside the musicians. Escape the unrelenting Christmas muzak as you check out Wellington’s most popular craft fair and expand your audio horizons. Who says there’s no nightlife in the Hutt?

All galleries, café, bar, Visitor Lounge and Shopette are open until 9pm. Current exhibition highlights include Cao Fei: Utopia, Michael Parekowhai’s Jim McMurtry, HotHouse Season 2 and the Wallace Art Awards. Entry by koha.

Spartacus R
Wellington six-piece groove-laden psychonauts Spartacus R have forged a sound that is simply unlike any other in New Zealand – matched with a mind-blowing and original live performance. Based on a foundation of blues, psychedelic rock and funk, Spartacus R engineer a set of sprawling and organic soundscapes that explore new aural territory. Having released their debut album When the Fever Takes Hold, the band has been described as 'beautifully atmospheric' and cinematic, making them Aotearoa's equivalent to an avant garde orchestra. Be prepared to be, as the New Zealand Herald says, ‘strangely enthralled’.
