Sewage contamination warning lifted
Sewage contamination warnings of the Karamu and Clive Rivers have now been lifted following the sewage spill that resulted from the vandalism of sewage pipes, on Thursday morning. (Dec 17)
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board’s Medical Officer of Health Caroline McElnay said results from samples collected yesterday showed sewage contamination levels had now dropped to safe recreational swimming limits.
Dr McElnay said warning signs would be removed, however anyone who had been in contact with the water during the contamination and developed a skin rash or any other symptom should see their doctor.
