Porirua Police Investigating Armed Robbery of Tawa BNZ Bank
Porirua Police are investigating an armed robbery at the BNZ Bank in Tawa, earlier this afternoon.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam says at about 3-30pm, a man entered the BNZ Bank in Oxford St, Tawa and approached a female teller.
He indicated he had a firearm and demanded money. The teller gave him an unknown amount of money and he fled the scene on foot.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam describes the offender as possibly a light-skinned Maori, in his late teens or early 20's. He was wearing a black cap, a black hooded sweatshirt with red writing on it and distinctive yellow waterproof pants.
Police believe the man may be armed and should not be approached.
Porirua Police would like to hear from anybody who saw this man in the Tawa area or who may recognise him in the photos attached. Police urge anyone with information to call them immediately on (04) 238 1401.
