Big prize pool for Queen’s Birthday weekend poker tournament

The second annual SKYCITY New Zealand Poker Open over Queen’s Birthday is only a week away with seats to the tournament in high demand.

With the main event beginning in five days time, players have started to arrive in Auckland for what is set to be an exciting event. Many of the local players will be seated at tables this week, taking part in smaller satellite events trying to win their way into the main event.

Over the next week, Mega Satellite events, Main Event, Low Stakes No Limit Hold’em with re-buys and the Main Event; the SKYCITY New Zealand Poker Open will be taking place in SKYCITY Poker. Making sure that satellite events are within all of the players’ budgets, buy-ins for these events range from a low NZD $20.00 up to NZD $235.00.

The SKYCITY New Zealand Poker Open Main Event Day 1 will take place on Sunday 6 June at 12.30pm with Day 2 for the Main Event beginning at 12.30pm on Monday 7 June. With player numbers limited to 180, this tournament is sure to sell out.

There will be a minimum of ten levels played on Day 1, with the remaining players heading into Day 2. The buy-in for the main event is set at NZD $1,100.00 with a guaranteed NZD $50,000.00 prize pool, which will increase as players enter the Main Event.

The tournament is set to be a truly domestic event with the best players from around New Zealand heading to Auckland to try and win one of the country’s most popular poker tournaments. Tournament regulars and SKYCITY Poker Ambassadors, Lee ‘Final Table’ Nelson and Brooke Howard-Smith will be sitting down at the tables in a bid to add a title to the mantle.
