Drugs, cash and speed don't mix

Six kgs of cannabis, half a million dollars in cash and a stun gun, WOW that's a find.

Counties Manukau Police Officers carrying out regular duties attended a so-called domestic and found nearly half a million dollars, drugs and weapons in the Manukau area.

Two further Police Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding in Otara and found 5kgs of cannabis; they also found paperwork which lead them to a storage unit that was being used for a large cannabis cultivation operation.
On Friday 28th May at about 9.30pm Counties Manukau Police were called to what they thought was a domestic. When they arrived at Ronwood Ave in Manukau they found the people they were looking for stood next to their vehicle. The two Officers could smell cannabis so proceeded to search the vehicle.

"It was a great discovery; the Officers seized $242,000.00 in cash, 1kg of cannabis, a stun gun, other dangerous weapons and stolen property. The vehicle was linked to a residential property in Kaitaia, this property was searched by Northland Police over the weekend and more drugs were located", said Detective Inspector John Tims.

The two males aged 32 and 40 have been charged and are remanded in custody.

On the Sunday 30th May at about 2.40am a 37 year old male was pulled over on Preston Road in Otara for speeding. The two Police Officers at the scene detected a strong smell of cannabis coming from the car. The car was searched and 5 Kgs of cannabis was found in a bin bag in the boot.

"The two Officers also found paperwork that lead to the finding of a cannabis cultivation at a storage unit in Otara. We executed a search warrant on the premises and saw what we would describe as a 'sophisticated commercial scale growing operation'. The storage unit had separate growing rooms and drying rooms", said Mr Tims.
