Green Party HR claims are wrong and damaging

The Green Party is wrong when it claims an error by the Auckland Transition Agency (ATA) has left skilled council staff unable to apply for Auckland Council positions or that anyone has been disadvantaged through the employee 'mapping' process, said ATA workforce and HR advisor Laila Harré.
The facts are:

* More than 4,000 council staff in the change process have 'mapped' themselves to functional areas of the new council. Information supplied and staff preferences are checked by validation with individual employees.

* As the result of the checking process, some people have raised issues which are being worked through. A small number of these are from people who have yet to receive letters; others are from people querying the area(s) to which they have been mapped.

* The ATA is working through these issues.

* No staff are disadvantaged. No one will be directed to apply for roles which do not align with their current positon, or miss out on applying for roles that do.

* In fact, none of these roles will be available for application until at least July. The ATA is working systematically to ensure the information is right.

ATA workforce and HR advisor Laila Harré said: "The validation process is in place to ensure that mapping information is checked. Given the size and complexity of the task we would expect some issues and we are committed to resolving those as they occur.

"It is utterly wrong and damaging to suggest that anyone is disadvantaged by this process which was purposefully designed with checks and balances to ensure the validity of information."
