Visitors Get More Options To Jet In To Queenstown

The options just got even better for visitors looking to travel to Queenstown, with Australian airline Jetstar today announcing the launch of direct international services to Queenstown.

From mid-December, Jetstar will commence twice-weekly direct flights from Melbourne and the Gold Coast (Coolangatta) and will also expand its Auckland-Queenstown services from seven to 11 times a week, bringing a total of eight new flights to Queenstown.

Destination Queenstown CEO Tony Everitt says it’s a win-win for visitors and for Queenstown.

“This continues the great support we’re getting from all the airlines and provides more options and flexibility for our short and long haul visitors,” he says.

“It makes Queenstown an even more appealing short haul holiday destination to Kiwis and Australians because it’s close, easy to get to, and flights are competitively priced.

“Another advantage of the new flights is that Queenstown becomes more accessible to long haul visitors. For example, Japanese holidaymakers will be able to fly one stop from Japan to Queenstown via the Gold Coast.

“Jetstar has built a significant position in the Japanese market so these flights alone present a great opportunity for us to rebuild visitor numbers.”

Air New Zealand, Qantas and Pacific Blue will also operate additional services to Queenstown this summer.
