E hoa!
Get your skates on this Rāmere!
Wellington City
Council is putting on a fun night for the whole whānau –
Kai me Kōneke (roller disco) on Rāmere 30 Hōngongoi
(Friday 30 July) as part of Te Wiki o te reo Māori (Māori
Language Week).
The evening will involve
Māori-style Zumba with Ani and her ‘Z’ team, music by
DJ Ayesha and Juse 1.
Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ngā
Mokopuna – the only immersion Māori school in Wellington
City – will be selling healthy kai throughout the
evening.
It’s koha donation, and if people have
their own skates, they’re asked to bring them along –
there’s only a limited amount available for hire at the
centre. Scooters and trikes are allowed, but no bikes.
Children must be supervised.
There’s already a
bit of media interest in this – ex-Warriors/Melbourne
Storm League player Wairangi Koopu will be there to cover
the disco for Māori Television’s Hyundai
Code.
The roller discos that are held at Kilbirnie
are usually immensely popular. It starts at 6.30pm and
finishes up at around 9.30pm. The recreation centre is at
101 Kilbirnie
Crescent.
