Red Cross Opens New Training Centre In Auckland

Tomorrow (28 July) New Zealand Red Cross will officially open a new first aid training centre on Khyber Pass Road in Auckland.

The ceremony begins in the boardroom of the Employers and Manufacturers Association at 159 Khyber Pass Rd, is followed by ribbon-cutting at the new facility at 175 Khyber Pass Rd (across the carpark) and concludes after a tour of the newly refitted premises.

New Zealand Red Cross National Education and Training Manager Graham Wrigley said, “This new two-room first aid training centre brings Red Cross first aid into central Auckland. It’s part of a push by New Zealand Red Cross to boost the number of Aucklanders with first aid skills.

“First aid is an essential skill that equips people to care for each other in the workplace or at home. Every week, I am gratified to hear how a Red Cross first aid course has given a member of the public the confidence to look after someone after a car crash, accident or other incident.”

New Zealand Red Cross is the country’s leading provider of first aid training, equipping over 68,000 people a year with NZQA-accredited life-saving skills.

The organisation’s first aid courses generate a surplus that helps cover the administration costs of running humanitarian programmes in New Zealand and overseas.

New Zealand Red Cross will soon be announcing a further new first aid training facility in Auckland, this time on the North Shore.
