Wairau Valley, Marlborough District

At about 10:00a.m. today Police were called to a rural property in the Wairau Valley area - some 70 kilometres from Blenheim.

From information received the Armed Offenders Squad attended in order to clear the property of any occupants and to search for firearms that were believed to be present.

A 48-year-old male has presented himself at the Blenheim Police Station in relation to the incident.

Enquiries are continuing and charges are likely.

There is no further information available at this time.
