Moorhouse Avenue Christchurch
At about 8.15 pm on Saturday night Police were investigating reports of an erratically ridden motorcycle in the Waltham area of Christchurch. Shortly afterwards witnesses reported a motorcycle travelling the wrong way on Moorhouse Avenue. Police found the motorcycle crashed on Moorhouse Avenue at Madras Street. Members of the public were attempting to give medical assistance to the rider but he died at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved.
Police will be investigating the circumstances and cause of the crash and will be reporting to the Coroner.
The rider was a 37 year old man from Christchurch. Next of kin are being informed.
Moorhouse Avenue was partially closed for 2.5 hours as a result.
