Jevan Goulter attends Debate in Drag

Mayoral Candidate Jevan Goulter attends Debate in DRAG sporting infamous Miss Wanganui Crown

This evening at the Wanganui Mayoral debate in Wanganui, Mayoral Candidate Jevan Goulter attended the evening being held at the War Memorial Hall with a little twist.

"It is time to educate Wanganui" Goulter proudly stated as he entered the debate in full drag, sporting the infamous Miss Wanganui Crown.

With other mayoral candidates in attendance it is fair to say many did not know how to react. The audience of around 100 people took the surprise in different ways. Some cheering, some not knowing where to look. This is the first time a serious candidate has sported 10inch heels and a wig in a debate.

Straight into it though, a stunt that may have been seen as a joke, however with public opnion assuming that Goulter come out second in the debate on top of Deputy Mayor, Dot Mckinnon and Sporting star Phillipa baker-Hogan the evening was a colorful one with eventful moments and plenty of cheering and laughing.

Goulter answered a few questions to the extent of saying "Jack Bullock and Trina Severensen (Council Candidates sitting in the front row) are a wasted vote and nothing but puppets", "Phillipa you have no personality", "Kevin Ross (Council CEO) your fired when I get in" and making clear to National MP Chester Burrows that "Chester I will point out other candidates flaws so that the public can see who they really are. With all this went the hot pink nail polished hands and long brunette hair waving around.

The only thing that Goulter would like to make clear is that he is not a drag queen and has never done this before. "I did this to promote human rights and show the community that I will represent everybody regardless of race, ethnicity, sexuality or any other minority and because I think that Wanganui needs a good kick in the butt and some education"

Goulter is campaigning for sustainable change and not status quo, he looks forward to the council debate on Friday evening as well being held at the same venue.

Goulter has also decided after his first time in a wig that he will definitely leaving it to the professionals in future !
