Selwyn Recovery Assistance Centres Open This Week

Four satellite recovery assistance centres will open in the Selwyn District this week and will assist local residents in returning their lives to normal, following the 4 September earthquake.

The centres will provide information on and access to a number of services -- including Victim Support, Inland Revenue, Housing New Zealand, Work and Income, as well as providing access to counselling and budgeting services.

"Selwyn people are a hardy bunch, but we encourage those who are uncertain, or need help, to get in touch with us as soon as possible," says Selwyn District Mayor, Kelvin Coe. "We are committed to supporting the people of Selwyn, and we will be here for them, for as long as we are needed."

For people who are unable to visit a recovery assistance centre, the Government Help Line will continue to be available on 0800 779 997. Canterbury residents can also be linked with counselling support services by calling, 0800 777 846.
