Police Investigate Attempted Child Abduction

New Brighton Police are investigating an attempted child abduction in Harewood Road, Bishopdale, at 7pm on Saturday (25th September 2010).

An unknown male pulled over in his black car with tinted windows next to an 11 year-old girl as she walked along the footpath towards her home address.

He wound down the front passenger's window and told the girl to get into the car.

The girl said "No" and ran home.

The offender is described as being in his 30's, with dark moustache and goatee beard, short black shaved hair, tattoo on the left side of his neck, possibly in the shape of a letter, with a pot belly. He was wearing a black leather jacket and black wrap around sunglasses with black frames.

The offender did not get out of the vehicle and drove away in a south-east direction on Harewood Road towards Bishopdale Park.

Police are endeavouring to identify the offender and are seeking information from the public.

This was an attempt to lure a young child into a car on a busy road.
