Wellington Police looking for weapon in connection to murder of Matthew Hall
Wellington Police are looking for a weapon, used in the brutal murder of 35 year-old Matthew Hall, whilst he lay in his bed on Tuesday 15 February 2011.
Detective Senior Sergeant Donna Howard, acting officer in charge of the investigation says Police are looking for a large knife, with a serrated edge.
"The Police Specialist Search Group has concluded an extensive search of the exterior of 118 Broderick Road, but did not locate the weapon used in the ferocious attack on Matthew."
"Given Police have searched the scene and haven't located the weapon at this stage, we'd appreciate neighbours in the vicinity of 118 Broderick Road, Johnsonville to check their properties, bush areas and rubbish bins for the weapon, which may have been discarded by the offender or offenders."
Donna Howard says ESR scientists have conducted their forensic examination at the scene, however expert Police fingerprints officers and other staff will remain at the scene for several days.
An area canvas will continue over the weekend, with Police investigators door knocking in the Johnsonville area, in order to gather useful information to piece together the events that led to Matthew's death.
Anyone with any information should contact Police on 0508 BRODERICK.
