Skellerup supports student volunteers with gumboot donation

CHRISTCHURCH – Skellerup Industries has donated 500 pairs of gumboots to the Student Volunteer Army to help the volunteers work in comfortable footwear as they clean up quake-ravaged Christchurch.

“We congratulate the Student Volunteer Army for what they are doing and we are pleased to assist their admirable efforts with 500 pairs of Skellerup gumboots in various sizes and styles,” says Perry Davis, Skellerup National Sales and Marketing Manager.

“Skellerup has been part of the Canterbury community for more than 100 years and we are very happy to support our community in this way,” he says.

In the aftermath of the earthquake, Skellerup’s two factories and a distribution centre in the suburb of Woolston, 3km southeast of the city centre, have been given an all-clear for essential operations. This includes its warehouse, primary processing and the area that produces dairy liners, the company’s key product for markets in this country and overseas.

"We are relieved that, again, not only have there been no injuries to staff, it appears that there is little or no significant damage to buildings or machinery," Acting Chief Executive David Mair says.
