Have your say on Auckland’s future

Aucklanders can learn more about the Auckland Plan and have their say on the city’s future by attending a community summit.

The central community summit will be held from 9.30am to 1pm on 4 April at the Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre, 58 Waipuna Road, Mt Wellington, followed by the southern community summit at Telstra Stadium, 770 Gt South Road, Manukau on 8 April from 8.30am to 1pm.

You can read the Auckland Unleashed discussion document and register for these summits at www.theaucklandplan.govt.nz where you can also give your feedback online.

Similar summits in the northern and western areas of the city have attracted over 200 attendees.

Key issues raised included:
• quality housing, rentable and affordable
• jobs close to where people live
• increased ferry services
• parks and green spaces in new developments

Direct quote here: “It’s great to see people engaging in this process, putting forward their ideas and having a say in the future of their city,” said Deputy Mayor Penny Hulse.

• The Auckland Plan is being developed by Auckland Council as a blueprint for the future growth and development of the city over 20 to 30 years. It is guided by Mayor Len Brown’s vision to make Auckland the world’s most liveable city.
