LOOPNews: Standing In Silence, Karlmarx, Eavesdrop & Friday

Auckland To Stand In Silence

As previously announced - Rhian Sheehan’s Standing In Silence is coming to Auckland for the very first time!

The multifaceted masterpiece weaves original instrumental compositions, an array of New Zealand’s most talented musicians and visual artists, breathtaking visuals shot around the world and conceptually rich motifs.

Performed in its entirety only twice before in Wellington (both to sell-out audiences), LOOP & Groove Guide are proud to present this not-to-be-missed opportunity to witness something truly breathtaking.

Excitingly, the historic and often overlooked jewel of Auckland venues, The Mercury Theatre, will provide the perfect host and intimate setting to Standing In Silence.

Don't miss your chance to experience this performance of surreal beauty, isolation and innocence.

A Futuristic Journey With Karlmarx

Production duo and brothers, Isaac Aesili and Mark McNeill, are intergalactic maestros, “Karlmarx”.

Their debut album, The Karlmarx Project, confounds the space and time continuum as it offers up an instrumental soundtrack for a retrospective science fiction movie that was never made.

Imagine vintage synth driven tracks that are packed with sonic explosions, synthetic soundscapes that rub shoulders with hypnotic and minimalistic, glitch-laden grooves and erratic, high tech, short-circuiting manifests that give way to organic rhythms.

With an international signing and tracks being spun by the likes of Giles Peterson you know Karlmarx are destined for big things.

The Karlmarx Project is receiving a digital and a LOOP Limited Edition Release on CD this Saturday 16 April.

This will be the first of LOOP's Limited Edition Release range, a group of special releases; individually hand numbered, with only 100 copies on CD available of each release. Once they sell out they will not be re-pressed.

Limited in quantity, and available only from Conch (Auckland), Slow Boat Records (Wellington), and online at LOOPShop, they offer a sense of exclusivity to the serious music collector.

To coincide with Independent Record Store Day & highlight The Karlmarx Project release day, Isaac will be performing in-store at Conch this Saturday. And to celebrate the album's release, Karlmarx are throwing a party on Friday 6 May at The Ponsonby Social Club!

Electronic & Physical Release date: Saturday 16 April
Soft Release: Saturday 16 April, Conch
Release Party: Friday 6 May, Ponsonby Social Club

You can pre-order your LOOP Limited Edition Release of The Karlmarx Project now from LOOPShop!

Time To Eavesdrop...

Eavesdrop (aka Dave Grimus) is a long time contributor to the NZ drum n bass community who has carved out a wide range of genre bending studio projects, producing delicious Liquid DnB, grimey Dubstep and funky hip-hop mash ups. LOOP fans may know him best as the producer of the tasty remix of Coast's "Woman".

His latest project, the recently released The Air On Fire EP, sees Eavesdrop teaming up with vocalist Willie C to produce a gem filled with atmospheric rollouts, squelchy soul workouts, natural soundscapes, world music wails and classic drum & bass goodness with restrained vocals and a familiar, natural liquid feel.

To celebrate the release of The Air On Fire EP, Eavesdrop is hitting the road on an album release tour. You can catch him in Auckland, Dunedin, Wanaka and Queenstown - see below for details.

EAVESDROP - AIR ON FIRE EP RELEASE TOUR

A Bit Of Friday Fun!

If you fancy a bit of a giggle, check out The Midnights' latest video for their song "Conspiracies" here.

It had a budget of $0 and is wonderfully eccentric!
