Major Ballantynes sale starts Tuesday

Major Ballantynes sale starts Tuesday

Ballantynes will hold one of the biggest ever clearance sale in Christchurch when the doors of the CBS Canterbury Arena in Addington open on Tuesday morning.

Over 125,000 items, all reduced by at least 50%, will be on offer during the six-day clearance from 14 -19 June.

Mary Devine, Managing Director of Ballantynes, said that the clearance is an integral part of the company’s recovery following the February earthquake.

“This event will help clear the decks and give us the necessary space so that we can start looking at the new summer ranges for when we plan to open again in the central city on October 29 as part of City Mall Re:Start.

“None of this would have been possible without the assistance of CERA to ensure a safe and efficient evacuation of stock. We have been planning this clearance for about six weeks to enable us to move 200 pallets of stock plus 150 racks of clothes from the central city store – a total of 50 truck loads all up,” she said.

The sale will comprise mainly of men’s and women’s fashion, footwear, homewares, and luggage..

“Our staff are really looking forward to meeting our customers again. We will have about 270 staff rostered during the clearance, with 20 checkouts,” she said.
