Medical Recruitment agency donates $1000 to earthquake appeal for doctors employed to fill Christchurch Hospital’s doctor shortage

Christchurch Public Hospital needs more doctors. However with a national doctor shortage, it faces stiff competition from other hospitals, made even more acute by doctors turning down work options in Christchurch citing the earthquakes as the reason, according to medical recruitment agency MedRecruit.

With a database of thousands of doctors across Australia and New Zealand, MedRecruit has decided to step in. Today the agency has appealed to every doctor registered with them across Australasia to consider taking up work in Christchurch.

MedRecruit’s managing director, Dr. Sam Hazledine, says for every doctor on MedRecruit’s database employed by Christchurch Hospital from today until July 31st 2011 – either short or long term – the agency will donate $1000 to the Christchurch earthquake appeal.

"Because we have easy access to so many doctors through our database and because we want to do something to help Christchurch we thought appealing to our doctors, as well as donating funds, would be the best thing to do", Dr. Hazledine says.

MedRecruit is located in Queenstown and was founded by Dr. Hazledine in 2006 to provide lifestyle solutions to doctors. The company specialises in both the locum and permanent placement of doctors throughout New Zealand and Australia and is Australasia’s fastest growing medical recruitment agency.
