Pay It Forward With The Palms Shopping Centre

Media Release August 2011

Pay It Forward to Someone Who Has Gone Above And Beyond

There are countless stories of selflessness that go untold. In the wake of the earthquakes, Christchurch has seen heartache and triumph, and given rise to true heroes who have gone above and beyond for their family, friends and community.

The Palms Shopping Centre is looking for stories of local unsung heroes to have their song sung to the tune of $1,000. Nominations are being received now, with the first announcement made last Tuesday 26 July by a surprise phone call.

Pay it forward and help The Palms sing the praises of your local ‘good sorts’ by emailing your nomination to christchurch@thebreeze.co.nz. Nominations must include your own contact details and those of the person you are nominating, including work, home and mobile phone numbers.

The Palms Shopping Centre manager Keryn Ward says, “We are so excited to have announced our reopening date of 8 September and want to recognise ‘good sorts’ in our community by awarding them with a little cash surprise for their efforts. It has been a hard road for those in the eastern suburbs and we feel they deserve a break. Just as importantly, their courageous and selfless efforts should not go unnoticed.”

Not only will the winning nominees receive $1,000, the successful nominators will be given $1,000 too.

Two deserving recipients will be surprised on Tuesday and Thursday each week for three weeks, ending 11 August 2011.
