Media release from Eastern Fish & Game
MEDIA ALERT: New Trout Fishing Season October 2011
For many, October the first is the most important day on the sport fishing calendar – the day the long-awaited trout season begins again.
In a time-honoured spring tradition, fishers by the hundred flock to lakes and rivers – especially in the Rotorua district where some of the world’s best fishing is found on ‘trophy lakes’ such as Tarawera. Adding to the excitement, bigger fish are predicted than for the previous season’s opening.
Eastern Region Fish & Game invites reporters and photographers or camera crews who want to go aboard a Fish & Game media boat on Saturday morning – on Lake Tarawera - to register an interest. Please contact Public Awareness Advisor Grant Dyson by Sunday 25th Setptember.
Going out on the media boat will allow you to capture some idyllic fishing scenes against a scenic backdrop of native bush and Mt Tarawera, and interview fishers out on the water. Media reps will also be able to interview Fish & Game Officers about their work, as they set out to interview more than 1000 fishers on the day about their catches, methods, etc.
