Look after your mates the message from Waikato Police this rugby weekend

Waikato Police preparing to host their third Rugby World Cup match this weekend are asking people to remember to chose their mates carefully and leave the bad ones at home.

Officer in charge of the District's Rugby World Cup operation, Inspector John Kelly, said so far there had been no match related arrests and it was his team's aim to ensure this remained the case during Sunday's match Wales and Fiji.

"Our biggest issue so far has been around traffic flow so what we want you to do is come to the game with your forward planning mate, leave your last minute mate behind.

"We also want you to team up with your sensible drinking mate and leave your drunk and obnoxious mate behind, during the last two games there's been a really positive vibe in the City and we would like this to continue."

While match days have been without incident there had been cases where overseas visitors had encountered less than desirable levels of hospitality in the Waikato.

"A group of French fans had their vehicle broken into in a Hamilton supermarket car-park and lost match and airline tickets.

"Victim Support and replacement tickets were arranged however we would far rather people secured valuables out of sight, it's a case of lock it or lose it," he said
