Man missing following fall off Maruia waterfall
A man is missing after an accident at the Maruia Falls, near Murchison about 5.30pm today.
The 39 year-old Christchurch man was with a group of rugby fans travelling to Nelson when the accident happened.
A witness said the man fell over the waterfall before disappearing.
Police dogs, kayaks and a helicopter searched the area before nightfall without finding the man. The search will resume at first light when the police dive squad has will be deployed.
The man was travelling with a group of work colleagues from Christchurch to Nelson when the accident happened.
